The New Business of Design

The Forty-fifth International Design Conference in Aspen

by IDCA

The Forty-fifth International Design conference in Aspen (IDCA) is held each June in Aspen, Colorado, where practitioners of the various design disciplines exchange ideas and information with each other and with people from business, science, technology, government, education, and the arts. The design process is thereby illuminated broadly, deeply, and from a great many points of view.
'The New Business of Design' documents the forty-fifth International Design Conference in Aspen (IDCA). The conference focused on redefinfing the idea of design in light of new developments in business and technology, examining the relationship between design and business, exploring new roles for designers, and asking questions about the place of the design profession in a changing world.
Amongst others the report includes contributions by: John Kao, Tom Peters, Larry Keeley, Michael Schrage, and John Thackara.

Comment: John Thackara is author of a chapter entitled 'Can We Count on Connectivity', pages 91 to 103.
