Susan George

Susan George was born in the US and is now a US-French citizen living near Paris. She is Associate Director of the Transnational institute in Amsterdam, a decentralised fellowship of scholars whose work is intended to contribute to social change.

She holds degrees from Smith College, Northhampton, Massachussetts, the Sorbonne and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris. She is the author of several dozen prefaces, journal or magazine articles, conference or seminar contributions, chapters in edited volumes and monographs. From 1990 until the end of 1995 she served as a member of the International Board of Greanpeace and still serves on the Board of Greanpeace France. She has acted as a consultant to several United Nations specialized agencies, she works with and speaks for environment and development NGOs in many countries and is frequently interviewed for press, radio and television.
