Larry Keeley, Doblin Group, Chicago, is president of a design and consultancy firm that works mainly with `corporate America' -- but on strategy and environmental issues, not just designing products. Keeley is among the two or three most important design commentators in the US. As a strategic planner, Keeley has pioneered the field of strategic design planning, a unique combination of conventional strategic planning, social science research and user-centred design. This practice involves the actual simulation of new business opportunities, offering powerful illustrations of new strategies with examples of future products, services, communications and information systems. Keeley is associate professor at the Institute of Design in Chicago. He is also on the Board of Directors of WBEZ-FM, where he is active in charting a new direction for public radio in Chicago.
