Stephen Perrella is a licensed architect, and most recently a visiting assistant professor at the University of Arkansas. He is also the editor/designer at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture newspaper, Newsline and the managing editor of Columbia documents of Architecture and Theory, with Bernard Tschumi. He was an originating editor of the Pratt Journal of Architecture. He has studied at the graduate philosophy program at the New School for Social Research.

He is a principle of the architectural design project studio A.E.M. (architecture at the end of metaphysics) with Tony Wong, whose work has appeared in WIRED magazine and many other architectural magazines. He is currently working on a theory of architecture he calls "Enculturated Hypersurface".
